Hi there, we're your hosts ~ Beth & Shaun.
We live here on the edge of the charming and historic village of Glenfinnan, where we welcome people to our B&B at Craigag Lodge.
Craigag Lodge was originally a hunting lodge in Glenfinnan and was constructed at roughly the same time as the world famous Glenfinnan Viaduct which is a 20 minute walk away (or 2 mins in the car!)
Our family-run Bed & Breakfast is 1.2 miles from the National Trust Visitor Centre, Glenfinnan Viaduct and the Glenfinnan Monument in the village. We're close enough allowing you to visit everything the village and local area has to offer and at the same time far enough to make this a totally private and peaceful location away from the crowds!
Make Some Memories......
With many attractions in the area, from hiking to visiting
historic sites, you'll surely have a memorable experience!
About Glenfinnan
A mystical setting, steeped in history and surrounded by breathtaking natural landscapes, awaits you in Glenfinnan. Whether you're an admirer of nature, a hiking enthusiast, a history buff, or even someone seeking a touch of magic à la Harry Potter, this area has something for everyone.
Glenfinnan, with its population of around 120 residents, sees a surge of thousands of visitors during the summer months. It's a place where you might find solitude in a tranquil glen or immerse yourself in a myriad of activities.
Within a 20mins walking distance (or a quick 2-minute drive), you'll find a treasure trove of attractions:
Delve into the rich history of the Jacobite era by visiting the Glenfinnan Monument, situated overlooking Loch Shiel. This landmark commemorates Bonnie Prince Charlie's historic raising of the Standard at Glenfinnan in 1745, a pivotal moment in the Jacobite Rising.
Alternatively, venture to the hillside viewpoint where spectators gather to catch a glimpse of the Hogwarts Express (The Jacobite steam train) crossing the iconic Harry Potter bridge, also known as the Glenfinnan Viaduct. Afterwards, treat yourself to local delicacies or pack a picnic for further exploration.
For a more private experience of train spotting, simply stand at the back of the lodge garden for an intimate view of the Harry Potter Train passing by.
Learn more about the construction of the elegant Glenfinnan Viaduct, inaugurated in 1901, at the charming Glenfinnan Station Museum. Take a stroll along the Viaduct Trail, starting from the picturesque Edwardian railway station, offering stunning views of Loch Shiel and the surrounding landscape.
Convenient transportation options, including buses and trains to Fort William and coastal areas, provide access to further destinations. The famous 'Road to the Isles' links Fort William to Mallaig, offering connections to public transport and ferries to Skye and the Small Isles.
Glenfinnan offers captivating mountain hikes, including Munros for the adventurous. Outdoor enthusiasts will find ample opportunities for mountain biking, kayaking, paddleboarding, and canoeing nearby. For those fond of wild swimming, the nearby loch and rivers offer excellent spots.
Just a short distance away are Arisaig and Morar, known for their pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters, these destinations are easily accessible by bus, train, or a short car ride. Visitors are encouraged to enjoy their beach days responsibly.
After a day of exploration, two exceptional hotels await, both just a short drive or a 20min walk from the Lodge. These establishments serve refreshing drinks and delicious food, with local wild venison being a standout option for meat enthusiasts. Additionally, the Dining Car at Glenfinnan Station offers delightful breakfasts, lunches, homemade cakes, and a selection of beverages, including local ales. (Evening meals on a Wednesday).
Alternatively, you can opt to stay in and order one of our Supper Platters along with some locally brewed beers.

Superb stay at Craig’s Lodge. Warm welcome awaits from hosts. We stayed in En-suite room which was comfortable for our 2 night stay. Breakfast on both mornings set us up for the day. Black pudding stack with poached egg and then we had scrambled eggs and the hot smoked salmon, both delicious. We had never been to the area before but plenty to see and walks to be had even in the winter. Trains running along behind the house too is a pleasant sight and sound. Hoping to make another visit

Shaun and Beth are the new owners and most heartwarming hosts. They welcomed me with a glass of whiskey and a warm meal after a rainy day.
The room is comfortable and clean. The lodge is located on a hill away from the road so it's really quiet! You might even see some deer.
